Your stay at the Tumor Center Aargau
For patients
A cancer diagnosis often turns the lives of those affected and their families upside down from one moment to the next. In addition to medical treatment, many questions arise: How does the therapy proceed? Who will accompany me during this time? What support is available for me and my family?
At the Tumor Zentrum Aargau, we support patients throughout their entire treatment—from the initial assessment and therapy to follow-up care. On this page, you will find important information regarding your care, available support services, and practical questions concerning your treatment.
Your treatment with us
Support during therapy
During treatment, patients are supported by an experienced team of physicians and other healthcare professionals. The various specialist departments work closely together to enable an individually tailored therapy.
Depending on the situation, treatments are carried out on an outpatient or inpatient basis. A high degree of personnel continuity in the care team ensures that patients are accompanied by familiar contacts over a long period of time.
For additional security, an oncologist is available around the clock.
Support in everyday life
Services for patients and relatives
In addition to medical treatment, a cancer diagnosis can bring many other challenges—physically, emotionally, and in everyday life. Therefore, a wide range of support services is available to our patients and their relatives.
These services are intended to accompany and relieve patients and their relatives throughout the entire phase of the illness.

Early detection of symptoms
Recognize side effects early
During cancer therapy, side effects or discomfort may occur. It is important to identify these as early as possible so that they can be treated quickly.
Therefore, in certain situations, we recommend participation in our electronic Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) collection. Patients can regularly record their symptoms digitally. Studies show that early detection of symptoms can contribute to a better quality of life and, in some cases, even better treatment outcomes.
The Tumor Zentrum Aargau is among the first institutions in Switzerland to use this system routinely outside of clinical trials.
After therapy
Aftercare and further support
Even after the completion of oncological therapy, we continue to support our patients. Follow-up care is provided in accordance with national and international guidelines and in close coordination with the treating physicians.
If necessary, we recommend supplementary programs such as the Onco-Rehab Program.
Furthermore, we work closely with various partner organizations, including Spitex and home care, specialized palliative care in Aargau, the Cancer League, Onco-Rehab, the Lung League, and palliative aargau.
