Medical Therapy for Oncological Diseases

Medical Oncology focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and medical therapy of oncological diseases.

Together with surgical oncology and radiotherapy, its aim is to remove tumor tissue as completely as possible, or to reduce and keep the tumor under control.

The focus here is on maintaining quality of life and extending life expectancy.

What can you expect in medical oncology?

Therapy concept in just a few working days

Our specialists quickly gather all the necessary information about your tumor situation and state of health. If necessary, additional examinations are arranged, for example:

  • Tissue samples for diagnostic confirmation

  • Further molecular analyses

  • Imaging examinations

  • Additional diagnostic investigations

The goal is to obtain a complete picture of the oncological situation as quickly as possible. Short referral pathways to other specialists support a problem-oriented and expeditious process.

Available therapy methods

We closely coordinate surgical, radiotherapeutic, and drug-based procedures.

A wide range of modern therapies is available. These include:

  • Chemotherapies
  • Antibody therapies
  • Molecularly targeted therapies
  • Immunotherapies

  • Hormone therapies

The procedures used depend on the type of tumor, the stage of the tumor, its biological characteristics, and the patient’s general condition.

Access to therapy

Mostly outpatient and independent of insurance coverage

Many treatments can be carried out on an outpatient basis and are open to all patients. For therapies that have not yet been approved or are limited, we obtain the cost approval promptly.

Course of treatment

  • Consultation
    Following referral, a prompt oncological consultation is scheduled. During this, all existing findings are reviewed and — if necessary — further examinations are initiated.

  • Treatment Plan
    Our goal is to develop a treatment plan within a few working days. This is discussed in detail during the oncological consultation and, in many cases, additionally in a follow-up nursing consultation. The treatment plan, assessment of tumor response, and treatment goals are discussed together with the patients and their relatives.

  • Laboratory and Prescription
    Immediately before the planned treatment, the necessary tests are performed in our own laboratory. Based on these results, the prescription can be issued just a few minutes later during the consultation.

  • Preparation and Quality Assurance
    Patients receive the necessary premedication. The medications are prepared on-site under controlled conditions by specially trained nursing staff. Standardized procedures, secure storage, and processes are monitored by a pharmacist specialized in oncology.

  • Treatment Administration
    Treatments are administered in appropriately equipped facilities in a pleasant environment. During treatment, patients are cared for by experienced, oncology-trained nursing professionals. The attending physician is present during the therapies.

  • Inpatient Treatment
    If inpatient admission is necessary, care is provided in a specialized oncology unit.

  • Brain tumors, head and neck tumors

  • Soft tissue tumors (sarcomas), neuroendocrine tumors
